Press Release Body: Surrey, BC - Wednesday, October 22, 2008 - Whether you are an
athlete, dancer, fitness enthusiast, or someone who exercises for good health,
efficient joint motion of the upper body is essential to your success. As a result
of chronic sitting, inactivity or excessive driving, some develop painful muscular
imbalances in the upper body. Areas like the neck, shoulders and elbows are the
most common areas that muscular imbalances occur in the upper body. Muscular
imbalances are when muscles shorten due to awkward posture, inactivity or injury.
This shortening decreases the efficiency of how the upper body moves, increases
one's risk of injury and often leads to painful neck, shoulder and elbow muscles.
MAT (Muscle Activation Techniques) is a systematic approach to identifying and
treating muscular imbalances that lead to inefficient function, pain and injury.
This weekend, Rick Kaselj, a local Surrey Personal Trainer is hosting the MAT course
aimed at educating personal trainers and Registered Kinesiologists on how to assess
muscular imbalance and how to use MAT to eliminate them.
